We are group 10! For our Art101 final project, we created a website
entitled DreamFlow.
DreamFlow is a website that will connect with users in a personal way.
Focusing closely on different mental health disorders that arise within
college students, and that have increased after the pandemic.
Before the pandemic, student mental health was already an important
public health concern. Significant increases occurred with mental health
issues (26.1% to 36.7%), leading to some seriously considered
attempting suicide (13.8% to 18.8%), and having attempted suicide (6.3% to 8.9%).
After the pandemic these percentages have only increased with many
feeling hopeless and alone.
71.8% of students sometimes, most of the time, or always spend time
virtually. Avoiding contact with others in these states.
They mainly listen to music.
During the research portion of this project we asked students what
songs or music they are more often to listen to, and why. Many
categorized songs based on their moods and songs that connect to them
with the state they are in. The mood options DreamFlow lists are based
on the top common mental health disorders that arise within students.
Our main goal for DreamFlow is to create a spotify-like experience
with a research based structure for those who live with such disorders
on a day to day basis. To not only provide songs for those wanting to
escape in music but also to show, THEY ARE NOT ALONE.
